First fill bourbon barrel
Ballechin is the heavily peated single malt made at Edradour in the Highlands. This 15-year-old was distilled in September 2010 and matured in three first-fill bourbon barrels. Signatory Vintage bottled it in March 2026 at 46% for its Un-Chillfiltered Collection. The malt used for Ballechin is peated to at least 50 ppm phenol. The bourbon casks set sweet vanilla against earthy peat smoke. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour. The nose pairs vanilla and honey with intense peat smoke and light fruit. The palate brings sweet, earthy smoke, creamy vanilla and fruit with a pinch of white pepper. Smoke, dark chocolate and spice linger in the long finish.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
