Balvenie 12 Year Old American Oak is a single malt made in pursuit of a fruitier, sweeter Balvenie. Virgin oak barrels were brought in from Kentucky, deeply toasted at The Balvenie Cooperage, and filled with Balvenie that had aged in ex-bourbon barrels. It is bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle.
The nose is malty with sweet fudge, citrus, oak vanilla, ginger and cinnamon. On the palate come candied orange and lemon peel, vanilla toffee, butterscotch, blossom honey and brown sugar, with oak spices at the end. The finish is rich and malty, with oak vanilla and subtle spice.
