Balvenie 12 Year Old The Sweet Toast of American Oak is a single malt Scotch whisky bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It is the first release in The Balvenie Stories range. It takes its inspiration from apprentice malt master Kelsey McKechnie, who proposed importing virgin oak barrels from Kentucky and toasting them deeply at the distillery's cooperage. Balvenie's ex-bourbon oak aged whisky was then filled into these barrels for a finishing period. The nose is malty, with sweet fudge, citrus, oak vanilla, ginger and cinnamon. The palate offers candied orange and lemon peel, vanilla toffee, butterscotch and blossom honey, with oak spices at the end. The finish is rich and malty, with oak vanilla and subtle spice.
