The Balvenie The Sweet Toast of American Oak is a 12 year old single malt Scotch whisky, bottled at 43% ABV in a 750ml bottle.
It began with the aim of making a fruitier, sweeter Balvenie. Virgin oak barrels were brought in from Kentucky and deeply toasted at The Balvenie Cooperage, then filled with Balvenie that had been aged in ex-bourbon barrels.
The nose is malty, with sweet fudge, citrus, oak vanilla, ginger and cinnamon. On the palate come candied orange and lemon peel, vanilla toffee, butterscotch, blossom honey and brown sugar, with oak spice at the end. The finish is rich and malty, with gentle oak vanilla.
