This is a 14-year-old Speyside single malt from The Balvenie, bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It was first aged in traditional oak casks, then finished in casks that previously held Caribbean rum.
Malt master David C. Stewart blended his own West Indian rums, filled them into casks, and later replaced the rum with Balvenie whisky. The finish adds some extra sweetness and warmth.
The nose has tropical fruit, notably passion fruit, with creamy toffee. The palate is creamy and vanilla-sweet, with apple, mango and a hint of orange, and the finish lingers on vanilla.
