This is an 18-year-old Balvenie Speyside single malt, finished in casks that previously held Pedro Ximénez sherry. It is bottled at 48.7% in a 70cl bottle, without chill-filtration or added colour.
The whisky matures for 18 years in American oak, then spends several months in Pedro Ximénez sherry butts. The first stage brings honey and vanilla, and the finish adds fruit, spice and a syrupy texture.
On the nose there are lavender, mandarin and ripe figs with honey and vanilla. The palate brings fig jam and candied fruit, and the finish is long, with vanilla and dark fruit.
