Balvenie – 2009 14 Year Old Bourbon Barrel Curious Casks (70cl, 47.8%)

This is a single cask Balvenie, distilled in 2009 and matured for 14 years in an American bourbon barrel, cask 8914. It belongs to the Curious Casks series, for which Warehouse and Samples Coordinator George Paterson and Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie chose the barrel. It was bottled at 47.8%, non-chill-filtered and without added colouring, in a 70cl bottle. The nose brings toasted oak and a creamy pudding note with citrus fruit. Candied orange, vanilla and oak sit in balance on the palate. The finish is fruity and sweet, with gentle oak spice.
