This is Balvenie Pedro Ximénez Cask, an 18 year old Speyside single malt in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 48.7% ABV.
The whisky matured in traditional whisky oak casks before moving to Pedro Ximénez sherry butts toward the end of its maturation. Cask finishing has a long association with the distillery. William Grant built Balvenie in 1892, and the 12 year old DoubleWood, launched in 1993, is credited with pioneering the technique.
