This is a Kentucky straight bourbon from The Bard Distillery in Graham, Kentucky, made in collaboration with Oh Boy Records and The Hello In There Foundation to honour the singer-songwriter John Prine. The 2025 release is five years old, rye-based and assembled from five mash bills, with most of the whiskey barrelled in 2020.
It is bottled at 50.5% ABV (101 proof), a nod to Prine's October 10 birthday, in an edition of 7,000 bottles.
The nose is sweet corn, vanilla and butterscotch with grassy notes and baking spice. The palate moves from sweet corn to treacle and oak, with white pepper. The finish is medium to long and creamy, with toasted grain, vanilla and dried citrus peel.
