Bardstown Bottled in Bond Wheated Bourbon is a six-year-old Kentucky bourbon from the Bardstown Bourbon Company's Origin Series, the first line to be distilled, aged and bottled entirely at the company's own distillery in Bardstown. It follows the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897: a single distilling season, ageing in a bonded warehouse, and a strength of 50% ABV (100 proof).
The mash bill is 68% corn, 20% wheat and 12% malted barley, with wheat in place of the more usual rye as the secondary grain. This gives a rich, creamy mouthfeel.
The nose brings baked peach, cocoa, lemon zest, cinnamon rolls, honey and a little toasted coconut. The palate has stone fruit, toffee and vanilla cream, with light oak and a whisper of char. The finish is long and slightly drying, with orange rind, baking spices and dusty cocoa.
