Barolo DOCG Sotto Castello di Novello Giacomo Grimaldi

Barolo DOCG Sotto Castello di Novello is a Barolo from Giacomo Grimaldi, made from Nebbiolo grown in the Sotto Castello vineyard in Novello. The vineyard benefits from a particular microclimate and calcareous marl soils. It has an intense garnet-red colour with orange reflections as it matures. On the nose it offers ripe red fruit, especially cherries and plums, dried flowers, tobacco, leather, subtle liquorice and an elegant mineral vein. On the palate it is rich and layered, with finely woven tannins and balanced acidity, leading to a long, harmonious finish. It suits rich dishes such as roast red meats, braised meats, truffle dishes and aged cheeses, and is also suitable for ageing.
