Barrell Private Release DHC4 is a cask-strength blend of Kentucky whiskeys, bottled at 58.93% ABV in a 750ml bottle by Barrell Craft Spirits of Louisville. The largest component of the blend is 18 years old.
The whiskey was finished in a Pinot Noir barrel from Marine Layer's Jentoft Vineyard in California, adding red-fruit character to the aged Kentucky base.
The nose is usually described as vanilla and toasted oak with dried cherry and plum. The palate is full-bodied, with caramel, oak, candied orange peel and soft berry sweetness, and the finish is long, with tobacco, dark chocolate and a faint red-fruit echo.
