Barrell Rye Batch 002 is the second release in the range and a blend of two very different ryes, in a 75cl bottle at 58.75% ABV.
One is a 100% malted rye distilled and aged in Poland for five years in new charred #3 oak barrels from World Cooperage. The other is an Indiana high malted barley rye, aged in Indiana and Kentucky for over five years.
It is sienna in colour with polished brass highlights. The nose has Linzertorte, Ovaltine and s'mores chocolate, then cardamom, gingerbread and dried currants, with violet and orchid florals and roasted cashew emerging later. Cinnamon and malt lead on the palate, with lemon zest, caramel and mulling spices. The finish brings black pepper and seawater salinity.
