Bell's Original (1L, 40%)

Bell's Original is a blended Scotch whisky made from malt and grain whiskies, bottled at 40% in a 1 litre bottle. Colour is added and it is chill-filtered. Blair Athol is the main malt in the blend, joined by whiskies from Caol Ila, Glenkinchie, Dufftown and Inchgower. The practice of combining different malts goes back to Arthur Bell, who selected whiskies for his blends in nineteenth-century Scotland. The nose brings fresh malt, cut herbs and honey, then green apple and caramel, with a very light peat smoke behind. The palate is toasted grain, vanilla and brown sugar with fruit cake and mild spice. The finish is short to medium, with sweet malt, roasted hazelnut and a little smoke.
