This is a single cask Benromach, distilled in 1982 and aged 39 years, from Gordon & MacPhail's Private Collection Series 1. It was selected personally by members of the Urquhart family, and 207 bottles were filled at 59.9% in 70cl bottles.
The whisky spent its first 19 years in a first fill sherry butt, then moved to a Burgundy wine cask for a further 20 years.
The nose brings Seville orange peel, stewed apples, toffee, vanilla, soft milk chocolate and mature oak. The palate offers sweet summer berries, black pepper, fresh mint, citrus and a touch of aniseed. The full finish lingers with brown sugar and black cherry.
