Benromach – Cara Gold Malt (46%)

Benromach Cara Gold Malt is a Speyside single malt bottled in 2022 at 46%, with natural colour and no chill-filtration. It matured in first-fill bourbon casks. It is the distillery's first use of Cara Gold malted barley, a lightly coloured roasted malt more often found in breweries, which brings fruity and caramel notes. This is married with the lightly peated malt the distillery has traditionally used, keeping Benromach's gently smoky identity. Passion fruit, lychee, lime and malted biscuit lead the nose. Sweet pineapple, apricot and pepper follow on the palate, and the finish is smoky, vibrant and subtle.
