Benromach Contrasts Peat Smoke is a Speyside single malt distilled in 2014 and bottled in 2023 at 46%, in a 70cl bottle. It is a very small batch, made from barley malted to a peat level of 57ppm and finished in first-fill sherry hogsheads. The colour is a light mahogany.
The nose combines sweet vanilla, ginger, dark chocolate, demerara sugar and Seville orange peel with sweet smoke. The palate brings cocoa powder, creamy honey, cooked red berries, black pepper and roasted almonds. The finish has sour cherry, peat smoke and a touch of sweetness.
