Bernheim Wheat Whiskey is a seven-year-old Kentucky wheat whiskey from Heaven Hill's Bernheim Distillery in Louisville, bottled at 45% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It is widely regarded as the first wheat whiskey introduced in America since Prohibition.
The mash bill is 51% winter wheat, 37% corn and 12% malted barley, so wheat leads rather than corn or rye. The spirit matures in new charred American oak barrels. It won Double Gold at the 2023 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
The nose has vanilla, honey, dark caramel and a little cinnamon. The palate is soft, with toffee, salted caramel, berries, mint and baking spices, and the finish is medium to long, with toasted oak and sweet cinnamon.
