Elijah Craig Straight Rye is an extra-aged Kentucky straight rye whiskey in a 750ml bottle, bottled at 47% ABV (94 proof). It is produced at Heaven Hill's Bernheim Distillery in Louisville.
The mashbill is 51% rye, 35% corn and 14% malted barley. The high proportion of corn gives a sweeter, more approachable profile.
The nose has fresh citrus, rye spice, cherries and strawberries, with caramel and a hint of cedar. On the palate, orange peel gives way to caramel, vanilla, dark chocolate, cinnamon and black pepper. The finish is medium in length and warm, with apricot, cherry and raisin.
