Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Batch C919 is a 12-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon from Heaven Hill, the third barrel proof release of 2019, in September. It was made at the Bernheim Distillery in Louisville and bottled uncut and non-chill-filtered at 136.8 proof (68.4% ABV). The batch code reads as C for the third release of the year, 9 for September and 19 for 2019. The mashbill is 78% corn, 10% rye and 12% malted barley. The nose combines toasted cherry pop tarts, vanilla, caramel, dark chocolate, tobacco, oak and dried fruit, with stewed Thanksgiving spice. The palate is coating, with cherry syrup, butterscotch, banana, apple, pear, leather, cinnamon, cayenne and sun-dried oak. The finish is sustained and warming, with cherry, buttery pastry dough, pepper and lingering caramel.
