This is the third Father's Day edition of Big Peat, a smoky, maritime blended malt made from Islay single malts. The blend includes whiskies from Ardbeg, Caol Ila, Bowmore and Port Ellen. It was released in 2024 as part of the Big Peat World Tour, limited to 960 bottles, and is stated at 40 ppm. Douglas Laing bottled it at 48%, without chill-filtering or added colouring. The yellow and black bottle carries a Super Dad motif and comes in a tube.
The nose offers peat smoke, dried seaweed, honey-glazed ham and a little ash. The palate is full and fresh, moving from sweetness to smoke, soot and lemon peel. The finish is long and dry, with salty sea air and charcoal.
