Big Peat Feis Ile 2019 (70cl, 48%)

Big Peat Feis Ile 2019 is a blended malt from Douglas Laing, bottled at 48% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It was made for Feis Ile, the Islay Festival of Music and Malt, where taking part distilleries and producers release special bottlings each year. The edition runs to 3300 bottles worldwide. The label shows the faces of 400 Big Peat fans from around the world, chosen after followers of the brand were invited to enter their selfies in an online competition. The nose is wild and oceanic, with fresh seaweed and rock pools. On the palate come sweet peat, tarry ropes, glowing embers and streaky bacon, and the finish is long and oily with leather and a hint of lemon cake.
