Blanton's Original Single Barrel Bourbon 2025 (70cl, 46.5%)

Blanton's Original is a single barrel Kentucky bourbon from the Buffalo Trace distillery, bottled at 46.5% ABV in a 70cl bottle. This one was dumped in 2025. Each release comes from a single barrel, so every version differs. Blanton's was the first bourbon bottled barrel by barrel, a practice begun in 1983, and it is named after Colonel Blanton, who ran Buffalo Trace from 1912 to 1953. The bottle is shaped like a horse and rider, a nod to the Kentucky Derby. The nose has strong vanilla with citrus, ripe apple, toffee, spice, chocolate and beeswax. The palate is creamy, with vanilla, cardamom and clove, then caramel, cocoa and orange, leading to a moderately long finish of vanilla, ripe fruit, spice and herbs.
