Blood Oath Pact No. 12 is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Lux Row Distillers in Bardstown, bottled at 49.3% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is the first Pact in the series to use a double Italian wine cask finish, and the release totals 51,000 bottles.
The blend combines 9-year and 12-year ryed bourbons with a 7-year ryed bourbon that was finished first in Montepulciano casks from Abruzzo, then in Sangiovese casks from Tuscany.
The nose offers ripe red fruit, dried herbs, stone fruit, caramel and vanilla. On the palate, stone fruit and caramel lead to cocoa, leather and oak, with dark cherry. The finish is long, with warming spice and black cherry.
