Elkwood Reserve is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Bluegrass Distillers, here an 18 year old single barrel bottling at a cask strength of 62.5% in a 75cl bottle. Each barrel is hand-selected and bottled uncut and unfiltered. Despite the high strength, it is described as gentle, with depth, balance and integration from its long time in oak. The nose opens with light oak, cherry, cinnamon and brown sugar, and with time tobacco and leather appear. The palate is rich and dessert-like, with cinnamon, brown sugar and light oak. The finish is long, carrying warming spice and delicate oak.
