Bols Genever (75cl, 42%)

Bols Genever is a Dutch genever from the Amsterdam brand, based on its original 1820 recipe. It is 42% ABV and comes in a 75cl bottle. It blends a triple-distilled malt wine, made from long-fermented rye, corn and wheat with a little barley and distilled in copper pot stills, with a separate juniper distillate and a botanical distillate. Roughly half is malt wine, which gives a lighter body than the older, heavier Oude style and makes it versatile in classic cocktails. The nose has grain and malt tones with subdued juniper, honeysuckle and citrus. The palate is rich and smooth, malty and slightly sweet, with light botanicals including angelica and hops, and a faint cocoa-like bitterness. The finish is clean and slightly dry.
