Bowmore 12 Year Old is an Islay single malt from the island's oldest licensed distillery, founded in 1779. It is bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle.
It was aged for a minimum of 12 years in ex-bourbon American oak casks and Spanish sherry butts, in Bowmore's No. 1 Vaults, which sit below sea level beside Loch Indaal.
The nose offers gentle peat smoke, sea air, honey, lemon and heather. The palate is medium-bodied, with dark chocolate, honey, balanced smokiness, citrus peel and cinnamon. The finish is medium to long, with lingering smoke, sweet vanilla and a hint of salt.
