Bowmore 12 Year Old Sherry Oak Cask is an official Islay single malt from the distillery founded in 1779, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky matures for 12 years, first in bourbon casks and then in Oloroso sherry casks. The barley is partly dried over Islay peat smoke, and maturation takes place in the No. 1 Vaults, below sea level.
The nose combines smoke with citrus, honey, vanilla, dark berries, raisins and nuts. The palate is silky, with dark chocolate, ripe fruit, walnut and balanced peat smoke. The finish is long and warming, with sea breeze, mild smoke and sherry, fading to peat ash and dried apricot.
