Bowmore 15 Year Old Sherry Oak Cask is an official bottling of Islay single malt at 43%, in a 70cl bottle. It spent 15 years maturing, first in American bourbon casks and then in Oloroso sherry casks for a finishing period.
Bowmore has its own malting floor and dries the malt with Islay peat, which gives the whisky its smoky character.
The nose is rich, with dark sherry tones, dried fruits, walnuts and honey, and a smoky edge. The palate is full-bodied, with dark chocolate, raisins, dried figs and honey, and smoke running through the sweetness. The finish is long and warming, with caramel, spices and a lingering mild smoke.
