This is a 16 year old Bowmore from Islay, distilled in 1990 and bottled in 2006 at 53.8% ABV, in a 70cl bottle. It is a sherry matured limited edition selected from 39 casks.
It is the second release in a series of three wood matured expressions from the distillery. Sherry oak is very upfront, in a full-bodied style that comes across as more mature than its 16 years.
The nose offers old leather, dark honey, ripe figs, earthy smoke and marzipan. The palate starts dry and earthy before spicy dark fruit, tobacco and toasted oak appear. The finish is long, with dark fig jam, sherried oak and smoked treacle.
