Ex-bourbon hogshead
This is a 17-year-old Bowmore from Islay, distilled in 2004 and bottled by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society from cask 3.338. A single ex-bourbon hogshead gave 260 bottles, each in a 70cl size. The name, 'Spice of the Angels', is the Tuscan term for fennel pollen, which turns up in the tasting notes once water is added. The whisky is described as smoky and punchy. The nose brings blooming roses, fresh varnished wood and peach and mango tobacco. The palate is textured and cool, with menthol and a sweet smokiness. The long finish ends with a kick of Caribbean hot sauce. Water opens up floral smoke with marram grass and fennel pollen.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
