Bowmore 18 Year Old Sherry Oak Cask is an Islay single malt from Bowmore, a distillery established in 1779. It is bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky spent 18 years maturing in a combination of American bourbon casks and European Oloroso sherry casks, so the smoky character of the distillery sits alongside the richer influence of the sherry.
On the nose there is dark chocolate, ripe fruit, peat smoke, honey, vanilla and sea air. The palate brings warm toffee, dark berries, creamy nuts and smoke with sweet spice. The finish is long and warming, with sweet spices, dried fruit and a dry oak edge.
