Bowmore – 1957 38 Year Old (70cl, 40.1%)

Bowmore 1957 is a 38 year old Islay single malt, an official distillery bottling at 40.1% in a 70cl bottle. It was distilled on 14 January 1957 and bottled from casks 216 to 220, giving 861 bottles. The whisky matured in Bowmore's No. 1 Vaults, below sea level on the shore of Islay. It was bottled before its strength could fall below the legal minimum for Scotch whisky, and each bottle was presented in a handcrafted oak case. Its character is described as a balance of tropical fruit, citrus oils, beeswax, sea salt, old oak, dried figs, exotic spices and delicate peat smoke.
