This is a 33 year old Bowmore from Islay, distilled in 1988 and released in 2023 as part of the Timeless Series. It is bottled at 45.5% in a 70cl bottle and comes in an hourglass-shaped display case.
The whisky matured first in ex-bourbon barrels, then was finished in Matusalem sherry-seasoned butts and second-fill European oak Oloroso casks. The sherry butts give it a deep gold colour.
The nose is sweet, with acacia honey, jasmine, toffee apple and nuts. On the palate, menthol and eucalyptus lead into ripe orchard fruits and peat smoke. The finish is long and rich, with layers of peat and eucalyptus.
