Bowmore – 34 Year Old 1989 Limited Single Cask #1972 Sherry Finish (70cl)

This is a 34-year-old Bowmore from Islay, distilled in 1989 and bottled by Limited Whisky from a single cask, #1972. The spirit was matured in bourbon casks and given ten months of sherry finishing. The bottling yielded 162 bottles, each in a 70cl size. The nose has bonfire embers, barbecued meats and stewed prunes, with cherries, dried apricots, butterscotch and vanilla fudge. On the palate are coal smoke, aged oak, lime marmalade and dark fruits, with an oily mouthfeel. The sherry influence fades slowly in a long, gentle finish of dark chocolate, aniseed and wood spice.
