Bowmore 52 Year Old is an Islay single malt distilled in 1965 and bottled in 2018 at 42%, in a 70cl bottle. It is an official Bowmore bottling.
It matured for 52 years in American oak bourbon barrels and European oak sherry casks, in Bowmore's No. 1 Vaults.
The nose shows tropical fruit, honey-glazed peaches, pipe tobacco and light maritime peat smoke. On the palate are ripe mango, vanilla crème brûlée, gentle oak spice, candied orange peel and a saline note. The finish is very long, with antique leather, dark chocolate and dried fruit, and a faint touch of smoke.
