Devil's Casks Batch #1 is a limited release from Bowmore on Islay, with 6,000 bottles made and the first batch released in October 2013. It comes in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky matured for 10 years in first fill Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez sherry casks, combining peated spirit with sherry wood.
The nose has old leather, vegetal smoke and sour fruits, with damp, oily peat and forest moss. Reduction brings brighter fruit, chocolate orange and a meatier smoke. On the palate there are blackberries, cranberries, cherries and oranges, alongside leather, damp soil and black tea.
