Bowmore No.1 is an Islay single malt from the Bowmore distillery, founded in 1779. It takes its name from the No.1 Vaults, the maturation cellars that lie just below sea level. It is bottled at 40% ABV.
The whisky matures in first fill bourbon casks of American oak and has a light golden, natural colour.
The nose combines vanilla fudge, caramel and toasted oak with a faint haze of peat smoke and sea salt, then citrus and honey. On the palate are vanilla cream, caramel and ripe banana, with light smoke and a salty touch. The finish is medium to long, softly smoky and lightly spicy.
