Bowsaw American Rye (70cl, 40%)

Bowsaw American Rye is a straight rye whiskey from Kentucky, distilled and matured in Owensboro and Louisville near the Ohio River. It was first released in 2020 and comes in a 70cl bottle. The mash is mostly rye, with some corn and malted barley, and the whiskey matures in new American oak casks charred to level 4. No colouring or additives go in, and it is not chill-filtered. The bottle has hand-decorated, embossed glass lettering. The nose is spicy, with fresh rye and grated nutmeg. The palate is just as spicy, with a handful of cloves, and the finish is soft and complex with a prickling sharpness.
