Bozal Mezcal Castilla Reserva (75cl)

Bozal Mezcal Castilla Reserva comes from San Nicolás de Acevedo in Durango, Mexico. Castilla is a small agave, usually wild rather than farmed, and Bozal built its identity around wild, indigenous agave from Oaxaca, Guerrero and Durango. Production uses open-air fermentation in wooden vats with wild yeast and mountain spring water, followed by double distillation in clay pot stills and a Filipino-style hybrid still of clay and wood. Bozal is now owned by Maguey Spirits. Official notes describe deep, earthy aromatics with weathered leather, soft minerality and restrained smoke, with cooked meats, chipotle and ancho chili on the palate and a smooth, lingering smoky finish.
