Bruichladdich – 12 Years Old Second Edition (70cl, 46%)

This is the Second Edition of the Bruichladdich 12 Years Old, an Islay single malt bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The nose shows ripe apple, pear and apricot with vanilla, honey and citrus, a delicate floral touch of thyme and primrose, and toasted malted barley underneath. The body is light with a glycerous texture. It opens softly but with some complexity: toffee sweetness, a peppery hint of cinnamon or ginger, and light toasted wood, with a salty, maritime character of the Islay coast. The finish is long, sweet and viscous, leaving toasted malt, honey and a light tannic dryness from the oak.
