Bruichladdich – 18 Year Old 2004

This is an Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, distilled in 2004 and matured for 18 years. It is the first 18 year old released since the distillery was revived in 2001. Most of the whisky matured in ex-bourbon casks, with a smaller share in wine casks. The bourbon wood is described as giving vanilla, honey and citrus, while the wine casks add subtle fruit. The barley was a blend of Islay, organic and Scottish mainland-grown grain.
