Bruichladdich – Bere Barley 2012 (70cl)

This is Bruichladdich Bere Barley, a single malt distilled in 2012 and sold in a 70cl bottle. It is made from Bere barley harvested in 2011 on four farms on Orkney. The whisky matured for ten years in first-fill ex-bourbon casks. Bere yields about half as much as Concerto, the barley traditionally used, but it is said to give more interesting aromas. It is a hardy grain typical of the Scottish islands.
