Port Charlotte 18 Year Old is a heavily peated single malt from Bruichladdich on Islay, bottled at 52.3% ABV. The barley is floor-malted and peated to high phenol levels.
The whisky matured for 18 years, mainly in first-fill and refill American oak casks, with some European oak alongside.
On the nose it shows coastal peat smoke, warm vanilla and honeyed toffee, with dried orchard fruit and a touch of sea spray. The palate is full-bodied, with smoky malt sweetness, baked pear, caramelised sugar, black pepper and smoky iodine.
