This is The Laddie Valinch 36, an 11 year old unpeated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, named after Gordon MacDougall, the Assistant Distillery Manager. It is a single cask, limited edition bottling, number 801 of 876, in a 50cl bottle at 60.7% ABV.
The whisky matured in a Pedro Ximénez cask.
The nose is rich and sweet, with raisins, dried figs, dates and dark chocolate, over toasted wood, cinnamon, clove and a light salty, mineral note. The palate is warm and very oily, with maple syrup, toffee, burnt caramel, toasted walnuts, ginger and black pepper. The finish is very long, with bitter cocoa, old leather and raisins.
