Buffalo Trace – Bourbon

Buffalo Trace is a small batch bourbon, first introduced in 1999. Each batch is made up of 25 to 30 casks chosen from warehouses C, I and K, and only from the middle rows, where maturation is considered best. The distillery that makes it was formerly called Ancient Age and takes its present name from the old buffalo trail it stands on. In the glass, the nose is sharp with rye over layers of corn, citrus and oak. The palate is soft and oily, with the corn soaking up prickly rye and spice. The finish is sweet and still oily, like cream caramel, with the rye returning towards the end.
