Buffalo Trace is the flagship bourbon of the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. This bottle holds one litre and is bottled at 45%.
The recipe of corn, rye and malted barley is known as Mash Bill #1. The bourbon matures for many years in new, charred American white oak barrels, and the distillery marries a selection of aged barrels for each bottling. It is chill-filtered and has no added colouring.
The nose combines vanilla, mint and molasses. The palate opens sweet with brown sugar and spice, followed by oak, toffee, dark fruit and a touch of aniseed. The finish is long and smooth.
