A 12 year old straight American rye from Bulleit, distilled by MGP Ingredients in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. The mash bill is 95% rye and 5% malted barley, and the whiskey was matured in new charred American oak. It is bottled at 46% (92 proof) in a 750ml bottle.
This aged expression was first released in 2019, then returned as a limited release in 2024 that includes barrels up to 17 years old.
The nose opens with dusty old rye and bubblegum, then caramel, mint, oak and orange peel, with pepper, clove and ginger building over time. The palate shows mint lemonade, shortbread, pine, melon and pineapple, followed by rye spice, brown sugar and butterscotch. The finish is long, with oak, leather, cinnamon and spearmint.
