Bulleit Rye is a straight rye whiskey bottled at 45% in a 1.75-litre bottle. The mashbill is 95% rye and 5% malted barley. It is distilled at MGP Ingredients in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, and aged for a minimum of four years in new American oak barrels with a No. 4 char.
The nose is soft, with muddled mint, dried apricot and cherry, then pine, dill and a peppery note. The palate opens with a rye spice kick, followed by toasted oak, tobacco leaf, cinnamon, orange peel and brown sugar. The finish is medium-long, with oak, a touch of leather and mild pepper.
