Bulleit – 95 Rye

Bulleit 95 Rye is an American rye whiskey made from a mash of 95% rye and 5% malted barley. It is aged for four to six years in new American white oak casks charred to level 4, which give it its colour and some of its flavour, including a gentle sweetness in the finish. The high rye content gives a spicy finish, and the whiskey is used in classic cocktails such as the Manhattan, Old Fashioned and Sazerac. The nose has plenty of cherry and vanilla, with subtle leather and tobacco. The palate opens sharp and spicy, then peach, more cherry and a little orange peel. The finish is smoky, with cinnamon, allspice and a hint of sweetness.
